The third Thursday of each month is Pi night. Normally we get together at 7pm, discuss the latest Pi news and answer any specific questions that members have about using Raspberry Pi or Arduino. For August we had a specific project, implementing a Pi-hole on an old Pi donated by Nigel.
Pi-hole is a network wide Ad blocker. It implements a server which blocks adverts for all the devices on the local network. August’s Pi Night (at 7pm on 15th) went through the installtion of the Pi-hole software on a Raspberry Pi and then installing it in the MakerSpace. The steps are described in the attached Pi-Hole Instructions. This session was open to all current members.
The one challenge was our inability to configure the MakerSpace router to properly use the Pi-Hole for IPv6 DNS queries. We will need to have to have a future session dedicated to fully understanding IPv6.
We will also covered some extra questions members had, and discussed a few other topics as well.
